Bayonne Welcomes Expansion of Hudson Bike Share to Increase Mobility Options

Bayonne, NJ –June 8, 2018 – P3 Global Management (P3GM) has announced that Hudson Bike Share, a program within the JerseyBike system, will host a launch event on Monday, June 11, 2018 at 11 a.m. outside City Hall.
The managing partner of the program, P3GM – a subsidiary of European Parking & Smart Mobility leader EYSA - has collaborated with the City of Bayonne and nextbike to provide the bike share system at no cost to the city or tax payers.
Hudson Bike Share consists of 560 bikes within Bayonne, Hoboken, Weehawken, West New York, Guttenberg, North Bergen, Port Imperial and a trial period with the NJ State Park Service at Liberty State Park, with plans for further expansion and additional bikes throughout the state as part of the JerseyBike single-membership state-wide system.
Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis said, “The City of Bayonne is very happy to welcome the bike share program to our community. It will provide a convenient transportation option for our residents and visitors. We are glad to work with the program to provide several bike locations throughout our city. JerseyBike is another sign that Bayonne is a city on the go!”
The six locations opening for the soft launch are as follows:
Bayonne City Hall (West 27thSt. & Avenue C)
Community Pool (Country Village Ct. & West 16thSt.)
Little League (JFK Blvd. & West 1stSt.)
Park Bayonne Residence (JFK Blvd. & West 44thSt.)
Barnabas Bayonne Medical Center (Broadway & West 24thStreet)
45thStreet Light Rail (Ave E. & East 45thSt./45thSt. Light Rail)
The additional locations will be made available following completion of the ongoing permitting process.
Riders can download the nextbike app and register for a user account. The user will enter credit card information into the app and use this app to unlock and lock bikes by scanning the QR code on the bicycle. Users will use the map in the app to locate the closest available bicycle or station.
Bayonne Business Administrator Joe DeMarco said, “Bayonne has worked very hard to attract new businesses and residents. The bike share program shows that City of Bayonne is striving to improve the quality of life as the local economy continues to grow.”
The bike share program will provide a convenient option for choosing to bicycle for your daily commute, errands around town, sightseeing, or leisure. Users can check out and return bikes interchangeably from stations conveniently located throughout Bayonne.

The design of the bike share system features smart bikes, which will allow riders to temporarily pause their rides. This will be useful for quick mid-trip stops. The system also allows for riders to dock their bike at already full stations, simply by locking the bike to itself.
Bayonne residents can register for various memberships including pay as you go trips for $2 plus tax, a monthly pass at $12.95 plus tax, and an annual pass for $95 plus tax. There is a $3 charge for every additional 30 minutes on the bikes.
